The Yankees were in danger of returning to the loss column facing a five-run deficit in the final inning of the first game of one of a doubleheader against the Mets. With two outs and a runner aboard, the Yankees loaded the bases, and Luke Voit plated two with a check-swing single against the shift. The score narrowed to 7-5 when a wild pitch scored Thairo Estrada from third base. Aaron Hicks then came through with a game-tying home run to force an improbable extra inning. In the eighth inning, Gio Urshela hit a two-out, two-strike single to plate the winning run in a wild, comeback victory.
