Joe Musgrove

Just two starts removed from throwing the first no-hitter in San Diego Padres history, Joe Musgrove was back to firing on all cylinders. The right-hander set a new career high with 13 strikeouts over his seven-inning outting. Despite being on the losing side of the decision, Musgrove only allowed two runs on four hits. Joe kept the Milwaukee Brewers hitters off-balanced all night with his wicked slider, inducing 14 swings-and-misses on the 28 sliders thrown. Musgrove also became the first pitcher since 2008 to record 13 or more strikeouts with none coming from fastballs.
