Don Drysdale

APRIL 11, 1959 — A fierce competitor on the mound, Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Don Drysdale could also handle his own with a bat in his hands. He proved it once again by hammering a third-inning home run to deep center off of Cubs starter Bob Anderson. This blast made “Big D” the first pitcher ever to have multiple Opening Day homers.
