Don Drysdale

JUNE 4, 1968 — Don Drysdale tossed his sixth consecutive complete-game shutout against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Dodger Stadium. Drysdale's streak dated back to May 14th in the 1968 season and now saw him pass Doc White for the longest consecutive complete-game shutout streak in MLB history. The 31-year-old pitcher would accumulate 58 consecutive innings of scoreless Baseball, which was the MLB record at the time. Don's mark held strong until 1988 when Orel Hershiser, also of the Dodgers, got up to 59.
