Gerrit Cole paved the way for a New York Yankees 2-1 win in yesterday's matchup with the Cleveland Indians. Both teams had their aces on the bump, but Gerrit Cole's seven-inning performance was enough to outlast the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, Shane Bieber. Cole was dominant, as he fanned 11 batters, allowed just one run on three hits and walked none. Gerrit has been lights out this year and is now the first pitcher in New York Yankees history to rack up 50 strikeouts with five or fewer walks over a five-start stretch.
