Vida Blue

Following the players' strike that started on June 12, 1981 and would go on to force the cancellation of 713 games, both parties reached an agreement and resumed play on August 9 with the MLB All-Star Game hosted by the Cleveland Indians. Vida Blue, representing the San Francisco Giants, would go on to hurl a scoreless seventh inning to earn the win for the National League. With this effort, the Mansfield, Louisiana, ace would become the first pitcher to earn a winning decision in an MLB All-Star Game for both the American League and National League.
