Jacob deGrom did not skip a beat coming off of the injured list in his return Tuesday night against the Colorado Rockies. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner tossed five innings of one-run ball and tallied nine strikeouts. Jacob is now the first pitcher in New York Mets history to begin a season with seven consecutive starts with one earned run or less allowed. He is also the second pitcher in the Modern Era to record 70-plus strikeouts and allow 20 hits or less in a single-season span. The other pitcher to accomplish this feat was Johan Santana in 2004.
