Andy Burns of the Los Angeles Dodgers made MLB history yesterday by becoming the first position player since the Expansion Era began in 1961 to record his first career hit and pitch in the same game. The 30-year-old from Greenville, South Carolina, got his first-career knock on an infield single in the bottom of the second inning. Burns would then go on to pitch the top of the ninth inning in midst of a blowout loss to the Texas Rangers to reserve the arms of the Dodgers bullpen.
