Jacob deGrom was brilliant yet again against NL East Division rival, the Atlanta Braves. The DeLand, Florida, native allowed one hit over the course of five scoreless innings with six strikeouts. With this effort, deGrom has now tossed 12 consecutive starts with one or zero earned runs allowed to leap Bob Gibson (in 1968) for the longest single season streak in MLB history. Jacob has not allowed a run in his last 30 innings pitched and owns the lowest ERA (0.50) and WHIP (0.51) through any pitcher’s first 12 starts of a season in the Modern Era.
