What can't Shohei Ohtani do on a baseball diamond? For the first time in his career, the 26-year-old pitching/hitting threat connected for a leadoff home run, a 453-foot blast that left his bat at an astonishing 116.1 MPH, the hardest hit leadoff longball since Statcast was introduced in 2015. Ohtani's blast rang off the Tropicana Field D-ring catwalk in right field, a feat that Angels manager Joe Maddon remarked by saying "I've never seen that in a game or in batting practice."
