Pete Alonso hit his 40th home run of the season, becoming the first Mets rookie to reach the milestone. The first baseman drove a 2-2 pitch from Atlanta's Bryse Wilson over the left-field wall at Citi Field, giving New York a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning. Alonso's blast marked his 100th career home run and extended his rookie record with his 117th RBI of the year.
