The San Diego Padres made the first big splash before the MLB Trade Deadline by acquiring Pittsburgh Pirates All-Star second basemen, Adam Frazier. In return for Frazier, the Pirates will receive three highly ranked prospects within the Padres farm system. The 29-year-old from Athens, Georgia, ranks as one of the League’s top offensive threats, as he owns a .324 batting average and a Major League-leading 125 hits over 98 games played. Frazier’s ability to play both second base and outfield provides flexibility for the Padres who are five and a half games back in the ultra-competitive NL West Division.
