Javier Báez

With the seats at Citi Field near capacity in anticipation to see Javier Báez play in his first game for his new Club, “El Mago” did nothing but put on a show. The 28-year-old shortstop left the yard in the bottom of the sixth inning with a towering moonshot that sent Queens into pandemonium. Báez crushed a hanging breaking ball, delivered from Wade Miley, and sent it well into the left-field seats for a two-run home run. The New York Mets would go on to win, 5-4, over the Cincinnati Reds in extra innings.
