The back-and-forth battle between the New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals went 11 innings and lasted a staggering four hours and fifty-two minutes. The Bronx Bombers would eventually pile on three runs in the top of the 11th, which proved to be enough to fight off the relentless Royals. The persistence shown from both teams landed them in MLB history as it was the first game ever in which both teams scored in innings seven through 11. Also, the Royals became the first Club since 1900 to score tying runs in innings seven through 10.
