Although Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco's sixth-inning blast bounced off the Green Monster and was initially ruled a double, Franco knew he just scored a go-ahead, two-run home run that would give his Rays the lead. Franco took his time, staying alive in the at-bat until he smashed the 11th pitch from Red Sox starting pitcher Tanner Houck. The home run would inspire the Rays offense, as they scored five more runs on the road to their 70th win of the season.
