Rickey Henderson is world-famous for his baserunning abilities and is certainly one of the greatest base runners to grace Major League Baseball with his presence. On this day in 1998, the then-39-year-old Henderson stole his 50th base of his MLB campaign, making him the oldest player in history to record 50 or more steals in a season. Henderson would go on to steal 16 more by the season’s end, placing him atop that year’s steals list.
