OCTOBER 17, 1976 — Tony Pérez was certainly no stranger to smithing game-defining moments, and on this day in 1976, he struck a walk-off single to hand his Cincinnati Reds the victory in Game 2 of the 1976 World Series. The fateful base hit was hit off New York Yankees starting pitcher Catfish Hunter, who pitched a complete game, leading his Club to a 4-3 win.
