One of the sweetest moments in Boston Red Sox franchise history was taking home the World Series title in 2004 for the first time in 86 years, but that wouldn’t have happened if they didn’t win the American League Championship Series. On this day in 2004, the Red Sox won Game 7 of the ALCS, beating out the New York Yankees by a broadside score of 12-3, after fighting back from a 3-0 series deficit. The Red Sox combined for four home runs, with two struck by Johnny Damon, while David Ortiz and Mark Bellhorn hit one each.
