One of the most unique home runs of the 2022 Major League Baseball season was struck in yesterday’s meeting between the New York Yankees and the Chicago Cubs. After being tossed an incredibly sloggish, 35.1-mph pitch, Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka belted a longball in the eighth inning of the game. Remarkably, this is the slowest pitch to be hit for a home run in the Statcast era. The slow pitch was delivered by Cubs first baseman Frank Schwindel, who was called in to give his Club’s bullpen a break in the Yankees rout of the Cubs.
