Charles Leclerc

Charles Leclerc produced an heroic drive to clinch victory at the FORMULA 1 GROSSER PREIS VON ÖSTERREICH 2022. Leclerc started the race in P2 after championship rival Verstappen earned pole position in Saturday’s Sprint Race. He put in a fantastic drive, overtaking Verstappen on Lap 12 to take the lead and then again on Lap 33, and finally for the third time on Lap 53 after his second pit stop. The Oracle Red Bull Racing car could not keep up. A late scare with a sticky throttle meant that Leclerc had to nurse the car home with Verstappen chasing. However, some excellent driving meant that Leclerc took the win to close the gap in the Driver Standings.
