Keith Hernandez

Keith Hernandez was the first baseman for the New York Mets when he recorded his 2,000th career hit on August 26, 2000. The milestone hit came against the St. Louis Cardinals in a game played at Busch Stadium. Hernandez, a 1982 National League MVP and 11-time All-Star, finished his career with 2,182 hits. He played 19 seasons in the major leagues, primarily with the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets, and was known for his defensive prowess at first base.
