Win on walk-off error for first time since 1986 World Series

New York New York Mets

For the first time since the infamous Bill Buckner error in Game 6 the 1986 World Series enabled the Mets to stay alive on their way to winning it all in Game 7, the Club walked off on a mistake by the opposing team. With the winning run on second base in the 10th inning, Brandon Nimmo hit a chopper back to the mound that was fielded by Tanner Scott. The left-handed pitcher then fired an errant throw to first base which allowed the Mets to walk it off with a 5-4 victory. The wild finish was a fitting end to a day where the Mets retired fan favorite Keith Hernandez's number.
