Boston Red Sox call-up shortstop Jeter Downs collected the first home run of his Major League Baseball career in his Club's 13-2 loss to the New York Yankees yesterday afternoon. Downs' first-career home run was struck off Gerrit Cole in the third inning of the contest and was good for two runs, the entirety of his Club's offense. Downs also connected for a double on the day and his excellent at-the-plate performance provided Red Sox fans with something to celebrate, despite their double-digit deficit loss to their long-time rivals.
