MAY 26, 2006— In the fourth inning of a game between Derek Jeter's New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals, Derek Jeter became the eighth Yankees player to amass 2,000 hits. Interestingly, the hit, which was struck into the ground just in front of home plate, was ruled both a single and an error. Jeter had another hit, and two walks, in this memorable game.
