Rich Hill

As part of yesterday afternoon's 5-1 Boston Red Sox victory over the Tampa Bay Rays, 42-year-old Red Sox hurler Rich Hill put on an incredible, seven-shutout-inning performance. Over the course of his seven-inning stint on the mound, Hill allowed only three hits, fanning an impressive 11 Rays batters while walking just one of them. Remarkably, this is the first time a Red Sox pitcher, aged 40-years-old or older, has ever recorded an 11-plus strikeout appearance, and is the first time it has happened League-wide since Randy Johnson did so in 2008.
