Michael Wacha, Boston Red Sox right-handed starting pitcher and nine-year veteran of Major League Baseball, recorded the 1,000th strikeout of his career in yesterday's bout with the Tampa Bay Rays. Over his six-inning stint on the mound, Wacha struck out an impressive seven Rays batters while walking none of them. His 1,000th strikeout was notched in the sixth inning when he fanned Rays shortstop Taylor Walls. Naturally, upon his return to the dugout, celebrations ensued.
