After his six-inning performance in last night's meeting between his New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs, starting pitcher Jacob deGrom tied a 108-year-old Major League Baseball record. deGrom, who threw 10 strikeouts and allowed three runs on the night, made his 39th consecutive start in which he allowed three or less runs. Remarkably, this ties a record set by Chicago White Sox hurler Jim Scott set all the way back in the 1913 and 1914 Major League Baseball seasons.
