To say Merrill Kelly was on fire in his Game 2 start of the 2023 World Series against the Texas Rangers would be an understatement. The 35-year-old right-hander dealt for seven innings, allowing just one run, while also notching an impressive nine strikeouts. What's more, the ironclad Kelly didn't allow a walk, making him just the 10th hurler in World Series history to drop as many strikeouts with no walks conceded. Furthermore, Kelly joined Club legends Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson as the only Diamondbacks starters to notch nine strikeouts or more in a World Series outing.
