Elly De La Cruz needs to get his arm registered as a weapon because it’s a cannon. During the Cincinnati Reds game Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers, the young phenom fielded a ground ball hit to third base. The 21-year-old then rocketed a throw to first, notching the fastest-tracked infield assist in the Statcast era at 97.9 mph. While impressive, it wasn’t even De La Cruz’s fastest-tracked assist this year. That came in May for Triple-A Louisville, where he made a 99.2 mph throw.
