It’s early, but things look promising for Max Scherzer and the Texas Rangers since the trade. Scherzer pitched a dandy in the win against the Oakland Athletics, going seven innings and allowing one run. He racked up six strikeouts in the effort, giving him 1,700 punchouts for his career. That plateau is the most among active players, and trails just six since at least 1906. His 15 strikeouts and 2.77 ERA since arriving to Texas makes him the second pitcher in Club history with 15 whiffs and an ERA below 3.00 through two starts since Nolan Ryan did it in 1989.
