Last night, the Pittsburgh Pirates bested the Cincinnati Reds, 13-12, in what was one of the most exciting contests of the 2023 Major League Baseball season so far. By the top of the fourth inning, and for the 820th time in Club history, the Pirates were facing a nine-run deficit. Remarkably, however, it became the first time in franchise history the Club would come back from nine runs or more and take home a victory after they scored an impressive 13 unanswered runs. Scoring plays were abundant, but the comeback was highlighted by rookie Ji Hwan Bae’s pair of doubles, a three-run Bryan Reynolds longball, and Jack Suwinski’s go-ahead single in the eighth.
