It was a long time coming for the Minnesota Twins and their fans. Designated hitter Royce Lewis provided the offensive spark with his two home runs to get the team going at Target Field. Starting pitcher Pablo López would take care of the rest, keeping the Toronto Blue Jays at bay with his one-run, five and 2/3 inning performance. López became the first Twins pitcher since franchise great Johan Santana in 2004 to record a Postseason win, while Lewis became the first to go deep multiple times since 1987. The collective effort propelled Minnesota’s first Postseason victory since 2004 with a 3-1 win in Game 1 of the American League Wild Card.
