The Minnesota Twins designated hitter flexed his power again, having blasted five grand slams during his career up to this point. In his first career Postseason game, rookie Royce Lewis crushed a two-run shot to left field to give his Club a quick 2-0 Wild Card Game 1 lead in the opening frame. Looking to do more damage, the 24-year-old went deep again with a solo shot two innings later. Lewis became the first Twins rookie to homer in the Postseason since 1991 and the first since Gary Gaetti to blast multiple dingers for the franchise. The California native’s effort led the team to a 3-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays and its first Postseason win since 2004.
