Sophia Smith

Scoreless through regulation play, Team USA will play for Olympic gold on Saturday thanks to a 95th-minute tally from Sophia Smith. The forward, who will celebrate a birthday on the date of the Final, positioned herself perfectly to receive a through ball from Mallory Swanson and beat the charging German keeper to give her side the 1-0 lead. Thanks to a spectacular save from Alyssa Naeher, the score held up as the game-winner to send the Americans through for the first time since 2012.
