Detroit Tigers southpaw Tarik Skubal continued his case for this season’s top AL pitcher after a career day in Sunday’s road win, 5-1. The 27-year-old stymied the Cincinnati Reds, racking up a whopping 13 punchouts over seven innings of one-run ball. The baker’s dozen is a personal high for Skubal, who joins Mickey Lolich (1968) as the only Tigers hurlers to strike out that many without allowing a walk and one or fewer earned runs in a game. Skubal’s ERA is down to 2.37 on the campaign.
