Hayden Birdsong

Hayden Birdsong soared over the Colorado Rockies in the San Francisco Giants Sunday win, 3-2. The call-up was dialed in from the mound, allowing just two hits and two runs, while striking out 12 batters. The performance marked only the ninth time in franchise history that a pitcher 23 years old or younger recorded 12 or more strikeouts in a game. Additionally, his 27 swings and misses are the most by a rookie in a game during the pitch-tracking era.
