With his ERA dipping to 1.99, Skenes is the first pitcher in the Modern Era (since 1901) with 150 punchouts and an ERA under 2.00 in his first 22 career games. It’s also the second-lowest ERA through 22 career starts since the earned run became an official stat in 1913, behind Steve Rogers in 1973-74.
