It’s been a season of firsts for Jackson Merrill. The San Diego Padres rookie superstar added to that list in Game 1 of his team’s National League Wild Card series against the Atlanta Braves. Wasting no time, Merrill did damage early with a sharp single to left field in the first frame. The knock was the first Postseason hit of the 21-year-old’s career. Merrill’s effort helped ignite the Padres, who went on to capture a convincing 4-0 victory.
