The six-foot-five hurler went the distance, quieting the opposition with nine strikeouts and allowing just three hits in the win, 2-0. Not only did he toss his first career shutout but did so with just 94 pitches. The Missouri native pitched a “Maddux,” referencing Hall-of-Famer Gregg Maddux’s notoriety for pitching such games in under 100 pitches.
