Sandy Alcantara

Sandy Alcantara, ace of the Miami Marlins, made history during his team’s 8-3 victory on the road in Pittsburgh. The 30-year-old right-hander collected the 1,000th strikeout of his MLB career in the bottom of the fourth inning when he caught Tyler Callihan looking at a breaking ball. Alcantara is the fifth active Dominican-born pitcher to reach the mark and 26th all-time.
