Pete Alonso - 2019 Topps Now #639
1 / 2

Pete Alonso became the first Mets rookie to hit 30 home runs in a season when he connected for his 30th of the year off of Miami Marlins right-hander Pablo Lopez on August 27. The blast came in the fourth inning of a 10-6 Mets win at Citi Field. Alonso, who was selected to his first All-Star Game this season, set a new franchise record for home runs by a rookie, surpassing Darryl Strawberry, who hit 26 in 1983. The first baseman finished the season with 53 home runs, breaking the previous franchise record of 41 set by Todd Hundley in 1996.
