With one out and a runner on in the eighth inning of the Mets 8-1 win over the Reds, Pete Alonso crushed a low and away pitch for his 50th home run of the season. With the 437-foot blast, Alonso became the second rookie to ever reach 50 home runs, and the first player ever to hit 50 homers in the season of his MLB debut.
