APRIL 11, 1963 — Just 12 days shy of his 43rd birthday, Braves starter Warren Spahn made history as he recorded his 328th career victory, the most ever for a left-handed pitcher. The 6-1 defeat of the Mets was a classic performance by Warren, as he threw a complete game and allowed just one run while striking out five. Spahn passed longtime Philadelphia Athletics hurler Ed-die Plank in the win.
