APRIL 12, 1998 — After making the big-league roster out of camp, Cubs rookie Kerry Wood made his MLB debut in Montréal to take on the Expos. The flamethrowing 20-year-old and former first-round draft pick struck out the first batter he saw in Mark Grudzielanek, and he continued on a torrid pace to collect six more strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings of work.
