SEPTEMBER 22, 1957 — On the final day of the season, Duke Snider was running out of time to set an MLB record. The slugger had four straight seasons with at least 40 home runs and was two blasts away from reaching the milestone for a fifth consecutive campaign. Snider did not squander the opportunity, launching two home runs to reach 40 on the season and keep his streak alive.
