David Cone

JULY 18, 1999 — The 41,930 fans who packed Yankee Stadium on Yoga Berra Day for the mid-summer showdown between the New York Yankees and the Montréal Expos were in store for a historic pitching performance from David Cone. The Kansas City, Missouri, hurler only needed 88 pitches to throw the 16th perfect game in MLB history. Despite a 33-minute rain delay in the bottom of the third inning, Cone was able to maintain his momentum, racking up 10 strikeouts in the pursuit of perfection.
