David Cone

David Cone made a triumphant comeback from surgery, returning to the mound for the New York Yankees against the Oakland Athletics. Cone fired seven hitless innings, allowed just three free bases and struck out six batters. David was pulled from the contest for health precaution reasons. Said manager Joe Torre, “If I would have left him in to throw 105 or 106 pitches and his shoulder would have been achy tomorrow or down the road, I never would have been able to live with myself.”
