Tom Glavine

SEPTEMBER 19, 1998 — Tom Glavine paved the way for the Atlanta Braves in their 5-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks with a stellar performance on the hill. The southpaw from Concord, Massachusetts, scattered just six hits and struck out five batters over the course of his complete-game shutout. Glavine’s brilliant effort guided him to his 20th winning decision on the year and marked the Braves 100th victory of the season. This triumph gave the Braves their second consecutive season reaching the 100-win mark, becoming the first team to do so in two decades.
