Sammy Sosa

SEPTEMBER 27, 2003 — Following a doubleheader sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs clinched their first Postseason berth since 1998. It was in the second game of the Saturday slate in late September when Sammy Sosa made National League history. The six-time MLB All-Star launched a 450-foot homer in the first inning, becoming the first player to club 40-plus longballs in six consecutive seasons.
