George W. Bush

OCTOBER 30, 2001 — Following the attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001, the City of New York turned to the New York Yankees and their deep Postseason run to help cope with the major tragedy. At age 55 and in his first year as President of the United States, George W. Bush was asked to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium before Game 3 of the 2001 World Series. With chants of “U-S-A, U-S-A” running through the stadium, President Bush rocked back and fired a perfect strike.
